Single Parenting & Perspective

I'm down to 2 kids for the week - Jack has been at Grandma's since Saturday and will be there while Dave is in Las Vegas. It's been really nice to have this time with the girls - we've been able to do a lot of things that we don't usually do because of Jack's nap schedule and other "limitations" provided by an 8 month old. We've been out to restaurants several times, to the craft store, to the library, to the dentist, and to the park. For the most part, things have been good - but by the end of the night I am soooo tired and really wishing Dave were here to help get them to bed. And as I write, this is the end of the evening and they don't appear to be settling down. grrrrrrrrr.......

The change in family dynamics is so interesting. The chaos level is lower, but the "silly-ness" level is up (the girls have been together WAY too much, I think!) Also, the girls have been bickering more. Again, I think it is because they've been together all weekend and most of this afternoon. Usually on the weekends they get some time alone with either Dave or I, but since Saturday the three of us have been together pretty much 24/7 (except for sleeping, and even this morning I awoke to Olivia in my bed!)

Well - I just had to go into their room and turn off their CD-story and take away a stuffed animal because the girls are not calming down. Now Lucy is crying and Isa just said "crying isn't going to get your teddy bear back". How true.

I'm the mean old mom. But now it is quiet. :)
