Felicity has returned from the hospital. The American Girl Hospital, that is. YES - there is such a place for dolls who run into unfortunate circumstances. Broken limbs, gum in hair - you name it, they'll fix it. In Felicity's case, she suffered the loss of all of her eyelashes on one of her eyes. Poor girl. She looked rather frightening with only one set of eyelashes. So, Isa and I packed her up and shipped her to WI to "Dr. Gloria". She arrived home the other day, safe and sound and as good as new. In fact, she has a whole new head! Which is extra nice, as Felicity's hair can be quite unruly and her new hair is nice and silky smooth. She came in a box with a bandage on the front. Inside, Felicity had on a hospital gown, a hospital bracelet and a "get well" balloon. She also had a "certificate of good health", signed by Dr. Gloria. We received a very nice letter from the "Dr." stating that she believed the problem to be the fault of the company, and not of Felicity's owner. Therefore, we didn't need to pay for the stay (thank goodness, because we don't have insurance on her!)
I really love the American Girl stories. We've read about Felicity & Elizabeth, Samantha & Nellie and now we have a book about Kit. The books take you back to a place in history where you not only learn about the time period, you feel like you become friends with the characters - who are all young girls who are compassionate, strong-willed, and kind. I enjoy reading these not only for the girls, but for myself, too! I have to admit that I'm really looking forward to visiting the store in Chicago, hopefully this Spring or Summer!!
