Under Construction

Our kitchen is UNDER CONSTRUCTION! YEAH!! We are getting new countertops on Wednesday. I'm so excited! We are having the new tops installed, but Dave is doing the "DEMO". The kitchen/dining room is a big mess right now - plaster and dust everywhere. BUT - it is looking better already, due to the removal of the fake brick backsplash!!

I took the girls to St. Paul yesterday to hang out with Aunt Lizzie. We had so much fun. We went to a neighborhood pool and the girls were in heaven! Isabel LOVED the waterslide - it was pretty big, but she has no fear and went down the slide over and over! Olivia didn't enjoy the slide as much.....her first (and only) time down resulted in an almost drowning. Maybe not drowning, but being propelled underwater longer than she would like :) So - she found a new fun thing to do, which was jumping off the side of the pool. She and Isa kept themselves busy for quite a long time jumping into the water...again, and again, and again.....!! Jack stayed behind while we had a babysitter at the house, so Dave could work. Little Jack Sprat (see pictures). He is a cutie-pie.

Today I got up with the kids, then around 9 or so we went out for breakfast, as a family. We went to HyVee (yes, people, the grocery store!) for breakfast! They have the best salad/fruit bar!! And for a special treat, the girls and I had strawberry shortcake for our breakfast dessert! After we dropped Dave at home, I took the kids to the mall to play at the kid's area, went to Barnes & Noble, then came home. I had arranged for our "happy" babysitters to come over to play with the girls in afternoon while I helped in the kitchen. Needless to say, Isa & Olivia were loving their friends, who, play every game under the sun with them! It was great, and I was able to sweep and clean as much as possible while Dave continued to sand, spackle, plaster, etc. We had an easy dinner of pizza and now the kids are in bed, Dave is taking a break, and I'm catching up on my blogs!

Tomorrow my friend Dawn is arriving to visit us for the week! I'm so excited!

As I noticed the title of this entry "under construction", I thought to myself - aren't we all, always, "under construction"?!?

I have to post a few more pictures of the kids......
