Girl Scout Camp

Isabel had another FUN year at Girl Scout Camp. Swimming, crafting, hiking, cooking, and BREAKING HER ARM!!!!

Yes, it's true! It happened Thursday before the "skits". Well, I guess we did see one skit, the one where the kids ran after a counselor, kid #1 went down, Olivia tripped over that one and Isabel tripped over Olivia. One, two, three down! Isa cried and cried and wanted to go home. I was afraid she sprained or maybe broke it, but by the time we got home and she was showered she felt better. On Friday she went back to camp, but complained off and on that it hurt. It did look swollen, but I kind of blew it off and figured it was "just" sprained. And, Dave was out of town so I wasn't too up on the idea of taking her to urget care with the other two kids in tow(I know, I'm a bad mom!!)

Today I woke up and ran out of the house to help a friend with her garage sale. Dave called me later and said that he thought Isa should have an x-ray. He took all 3 kids to urgent care (while I was at the garage sale....I know, I'm a bad mom!!!). She came back with a PINK cast. And a definite break.

She still got to go to Grammy & Grandpa's house, though, and as I write this she is with them, driving to WI. I HOPE that everything goes OK. The "care of a cast" sheet that the DR. sent home has a list of "problems to look for". Things like blue fingers, numb fingers, etc. UGH!

Here she is in her sassy cast, on which she has already accumluated an impressive number of signatures.... :)

She's a tough little cookie!

First, you ARE NOT a bad mom!

Second, cute cast pictures...I love Olivia's signature with the heart after it.

Third, Isa is a tough little girl! The look on her face in the first pic is priceless.

Lastly, you ARE NOT a bad mom! :)

I agree with the previous post-er! :) Kids are pretty tough and sometimes they are too busy to pay attention to bumps, bruises, or breaks! Isa looks pretty proud of that pink cast! Too bad it wasn't rainbow!! :)

Hope she heals fast and that bathtimes go without incident. Tip, use a stretched out coat hanger for a scratcher :-)
