Thanksgiving 2007

We spent Thanksgiving at Grammy & Grandpa Spillman's this year. It was really beautiful at their place because we had a little snow. The snow and the Packers win over Detriot made it feel like a true Thanksgiving!

One day, we went into the woods and, after much pondering about which tree to choose, Grandpa cut down the "perfect" one! I love being in the woods - the quiet of nature - only crunching snow, leaves and crackling twigs. Oh wait - we had Isabel & Lucy with us - so.....it wasn't so quiet! No complaints from Olivia. Isabel was complaining about being cold (granted, she doesn't have winter boots yet, so she had to wear her rain boots) so the whining was a little annoying (sorry, Isa, but it's true - we love you, though!)

The girls picked out two little trees for the front porch that they decorated with ornaments that they made with Dave. The trees turned out very cute & festive.

Another time, my dad and I went for a walk in the woods to a point that overlooked Lake Superior. This time, it WAS quiet and peaceful and beautiful!

Liz was visiting, too and she made a delicious rice dish for Thanksgiving dinner. And an apple cake for dessert (which, luckily she made, since the pumpkin pie was a little raw and tasted suspicious!!) I shouldn't talk, though, because I didn't make anything. My only contribution was to peel the potatoes.

It was a great Thanksgiving!
