Happy Thanksgiving

Due to illness in our household (and lots of it!), we stayed in town over Thanksgiving. I've been really sick the past week, so a big, traditional dinner was not in the cards for us. I did manage to make mashed potatoes and chicken! I made a glaze for the chicken, which smelled wonderful, looked wonderful and tasted wonderful UNTIL I decided to thicken it a bit. In my absent-mindedness I used baking soda instead of cornstarch. I couldn't understand WHY my glaze was FIZZING. UGH. I did manage to scrape some of the FOAM off of the top and the glaze did taste OK, but only Isabel and myself dared to eat it.

We did make it to the Festival of Trees on Friday. It is one of my favorite family things to do each year. We kept Jack in the stroller for most of the time, because when let loose we feared trees toppling down one after another in his wake. The trees were beautiful, and the lights were so pretty. We also stopped for a visit with Santa - Jack didn't care too much for him, but the girls gave him big hugs.

On Sat. I escaped for most of the day to run errands, do a little Christmas shopping and have lunch at Barnes & Noble while I read photography books. I was on my way home when Sonia called to see what I was up to. I swung by her house and we spent some time browsing a few shops and then visiting and relaxing at Panera with tea and a bit of chocolate. It was a very, very, nice afternoon!

I am feeling much better and I am thankful for my health and my family and my friends.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

For clarification, I thought the chicken tasted magnificent with just the first glaze you applied. Otherwise, I would have gladly applied the foam as well.

Also, from watching Top Chef, I was under the impression that foam dressing is super chic. I thought you were going gormet on me. :-)
