Check Up

Today I had my follow-up appointment with my OB. It went well - he said I am doing great. I had my blood drawn for tests, and the results should be back to me by Friday. I'm sure it will be fine, but I do worry a little about whether or not I could have picked up any virus/disease from the transfusion. He assured me that the blood is screened very carefully. He also said that I didn't have a choice, so to ponder whether or not I should have had the blood is useless. He said "if you wouldn't have received it, you would could have likely died, or come very close to dying".

It's scary, really, when I think about it - that having a baby (even in 2007) turned out to be so risky for me. I really expected that this delivery would be my best one yet - I was excited to hold the baby right away, have him nurse asap, be back in my room - walking around as soon as possible. I was disappointed that things didn't turn out the way I had imagined, but, at the same time, I am grateful that I'm OK and Jack is healthy! This is the last baby for me - which I knew going into this! I hope that I never need to have abdominal surgery again, because it could be risky due to the scar tissue.

Today I went to the mall (ALONE) and found 2 tops and a dress at Ann Taylor. Stretchy, empire waist clothes that make me feel good! My final pregnancy weight total was 178lbs - WOW! Today, I was at 146, which is 8 lbs more than my pre-pregnancy weight. I think these last 10 lbs or so will be a little harder to get ride of....hence, the shopping trip today!

On another note, here are a few pictures of the kids. I'm trying to keep up on taking pictures of Jack. It's true, with each kid you take less pictures - so I need to keep the camera handy so I can remember to capture him in these sweet early months of life.
AWWWWWWW MOM

Hmmm...what is this story about clothes that fit? I can't seem to find any! You, by the way, look great!

The kids are getting SO big, it's neat to see all the kids together :) (OK, it still sounds funny to me to say ALL the kids!)
